About Paced and how we check our guides

Updated

In short. Paced is a study planner: it schedules spaced reviews of whole topics inside the hours you actually have. It is built and published by Alexandre Doumergue, founder of Paced, who also signs the guides on this site. Review dates and lengths in a guide come from the app's own engine, research and exam facts are cited from their source, and each guide says the day its sources were last checked.

Who publishes Paced

Paced is published by Alexandre Doumergue, founder of Paced. The publisher's legal identification and registration number are in the Terms of Use.

  • Same publisher, separate apps: pacedstudy.fr presents MyP1 and MyÆDN, two French apps for medical school built on the same engine. Paced, at pacedstudy.com, is the English app for any field of study.
  • Other products called "Paced" (paced.com, paced.app, getpaced.app, pacedplanner.com) are not related to us.

How the guides are written

  1. Numbers come from the engine, never from a keyboard. Review dates and review lengths come from the app's engine (its paces and its default review curve); weekly loads are our arithmetic on them, added up when the site is built. On the Standard pace (D0, D+1, D+3, D+7, D+15, D+30, D+60, D+120, D+240), the fourth review falls on day 15. The tables and charts are marked in the page, and our test suite recomputes every one of them and fails when a cell differs; we run it before publishing a change. The numbers are calculations on stated assumptions (a pace, a first-study length, hours per week), not measurements of anyone's memory.
  2. Facts come from primary sources. Research is cited from the paper itself (a DOI or PubMed Central); exam facts from the body that runs the exam (usmle.org, nclex.com, ncbex.org, cfainstitute.org, ncees.org); tool features from the tool's own manual. A guide quotes what the source says, and says so when a figure is our own calculation.
  3. Every guide is dated twice. “Updated” moves only when the content changes; “Sources checked on” is the last day its sources were read at the source.
  4. Exam facts are re-read at least once a year on the official pages, and the day we learn of a change. Exam formats move (Step 1 changed on 14 May 2026; the bar exam is moving to NextGen): every exam fact on the site shows the day it was read, and our tests fail when one is more than a year old.
  5. No promise, no ranking, no invented rating. A guide never says a plan will make you pass. A comparison lists products in alphabetical order, with the source and the date of every line, and says which one is ours. No guide shows a price. The tools compute in your browser and store nothing on our side; a link you share carries your plan in its address, after the “#”, which browsers do not send to a server.

Corrections

Found an error, an outdated exam fact or a source that no longer says what we quote? Write to contact@pacedstudy.fr with the page and the sentence. We check it at the source, fix the page, and the “Updated” date moves with the fix.
