Paced on your Android phone
Updated · Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox
Three screens
About two minutes, no download from a store.
Open pacedstudy.com in Chrome
Type pacedstudy.com in Chrome's address bar, or tap Sign in on the home page. Chrome may already offer “Install” at the bottom of the screen: tap it, and skip to screen 3.
Add it to your home screen
Tap the ⋮ menu at the top right, then “Add to Home screen”, then “Install”. Samsung Internet: the ≡ menu, “Add page to”, “Home screen”. Firefox: the ⋮ menu, “Add to Home screen”.
Open Paced from your home screen
The P icon is now among your apps. Tap it: Paced opens in its own window, without the browser bar. Sign in once; the next time, your plan is already there.
Browser by browser
The gesture has a different name in each browser; the result is the same icon on your home screen.
- Chrome
Tap the ⋮ menu at the top right of Chrome. Tap “Add to Home screen”, then “Install”. - Samsung Internet
Tap the ≡ menu at the bottom right of Samsung Internet. Tap “Add page to”, then “Home screen”. - Firefox
Tap the ⋮ menu of Firefox. Tap “Add to Home screen”, then “Add”.
Opened the link inside another app (a messaging app, a social network)? Its built-in browser cannot install anything: tap “Open in Chrome” (or copy the address into Chrome) first.
What you get
- Its own icon and its own window. No browser bar, no tabs: Paced opens like any other app, from the home screen or the app drawer.
- One account, everywhere. The plan you build on Android is the one you see on the web and on an iPhone or iPad — ticks, pace, calendar, grades.
- Updates on their own. A new version is installed in the background; a “New version” notice asks before reloading, and never over a tick that is not saved yet.
- Signed in once. The installed app keeps your session; sign out from Profile when you lend the phone.
Why not a Play Store app? A Play Store listing would wrap this same web app in a shell, with none of what a native app adds. Rather than ship a weaker copy, Paced on Android is the web app itself, installed from your browser and updated with the site. iPhone or iPad? Paced is a native app there — see the home page.
Questions
Is it the same as the iPhone app?
Same engine, same account, same plan. On iPhone and iPad, Paced is a native app; on Android you use the web app, installed from your browser. Final-review mode is on iPhone and iPad only.
Do I need the Play Store?
No. There is nothing to download from a store: Chrome installs the web app from pacedstudy.com itself, and the app updates when the site does — a “New version” notice asks before reloading, so a tick you just made is never lost.
Does it work offline?
Opening your plan needs the network: your plan is read from your account and is never kept in the browser's cache. Without a connection you get an offline notice and a Try again button, not a blank page.
Does it work on an Android tablet?
Yes, with the same three screens. The layout widens as it does on the web: the calendar and the week board get the room they have on a desktop.
How do I remove it?
Hold the Paced icon on your home screen, then Uninstall (or Remove). Your account and your plan are untouched: sign in again on any device.
